Needham National 10s - Mass State Little League Champions

Needham National 10s win State Championship!

Needham’s 10-year-old Williamsport team beat Mansfield 9-1 on Sunday, July 21 to win the 2019 Mass 8-10 Year Old Little League Tournament. Needham National 10s beat Peabody 8-3 in a state semifinal game on Saturday, July 20, to advance to the state final at O’Grady Field, 32-38 Clifton Ave, Salem, Ma. Needham National 10s beat Brookline 8-4 on July 16, in Charlestown, winning the Section 3 Mass Little League Tournament. Representing the team are: William Lavelle, Rory Funke, Matthew Mullaney,  Colin O’Donnell, Jack Sherman, Blake Carr, Patrick Killeen, William Cassidy, Matthew Spalla, Colton Harjula, Cal Hammerstrand, Owen Hammerstrand and Declan O’Brien. Coaches: Kevin Lavelle, Barry Mullaney, Jeff Sherman.

Needham National 10s advance to State Championship game

Needham’s 10-year-old Williamsport team beat Peabody 8-3 on Saturday, July 20, to advance to the state final of the Mass Little League 8-10 Tournament on Sunday, July 21, 11am at O’Grady Field, 32-38 Clifton Ave, Salem, Ma. Needham National 10s beat Brookline 8-4 on July 16, in Charlestown, winning the Section 3 Mass Little League Tournament. Representing the team are: William Lavelle, Rory Funke, Matthew Mullaney,  Colin O’Donnell, Jack Sherman, Blake Carr, Patrick Killeen, William Cassidy, Matthew Spalla, Colton Harjula, Cal Hammerstrand, Owen Hammerstrand and Declan O’Brien.

2019 Majors Champions

On Tuesday, June 18, the Athletics beat the Dodgers in the Majors championship game at Memorial’s turf field. Trailing 4-1 with two outs in the bottom of the last inning, the A’s rallied for 4 runs and took the game 5-4. George Mutrie pitched a complete game for the A’s, and Lincoln Pollack had the game winning hit, a walk-off line drive single up the middle. The A’s made it to the championship game by beating the Red Sox the prior night in extra innings, 6-4, in a nine-inning game featuring a 13-strikeout performance by A’s starting pitcher, Jack Pasciak, who gave up only one hit, one walk and no earned runs.
