About Needham Baseball & Softball

Needham Baseball & Softball is non-profit organization running baseball and softball programs in Needham, MA. Needham Baseball & Softball has been operating in Needham since 1953 under charters granted by Little League International. Every year we have more than 1,000 players in our leagues.

Our mission is to teach the games of baseball and softball and instill in our youth a love and lifetime commitment to these games. Along the way, we strive to teach life lessons such as physical fitness, how to be a supportive teammate, respect for others, and good sportsmanship, regardless of ability level or winning records.

Needham Baseball & Softball offers comprehensive programs starting in Kindergarten and going up through High School age.

Baseball Programs

  • Spring Season: April through June for all ages, K-16-year-olds.  
  • Summer Travel Baseball: Competitive "travel teams" play mid-June through July, for ages 8 - 15-year-olds.
  • Fall Travel Baseball: Travel teams play September through October season for 8 - 14-year-olds. Development Program for 1st and 2nd graders. 
  • Rocket Select Baseball: Competitive club team that competes in the New Balance Select League

Softball Programs

  • Spring Softball: April through June for all K-8th grade.
  • Summer Travel Softball: Competitive travel teams play July through August for age groups 10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U.
  • Fall Travel Softball: Competitive travel teams play September through October for age groups 10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U.

Challenger Division

The Little League Challenger Division® is Little League’s adaptive baseball program. This fun and instructional league will teach basic skills of baseball & softball. Players will participate in drills, games and be part of a team. Challenger is geared toward children with neurodivergent profiles and/or physical or intellectual differences but inclusive of any player who requires support to play the game.
